Keys For the City Ends Another Successful Run!
If it is a bit quieter on the streets lately, it’s because we have taken the Keys for the City 2013 pianos off the streets. Once again, Keys was a huge success, helping to create so many magical musical moments throughout the summer. We feel that this program contributes in a significant way to Lancaster’s efforts to make our city an “arts destination”. If we can muster up enough sponsors, we’ll bring the pianos back for an encore performance next summer!!

MFE to Participate in Lancaster County Community Foundation Second Annual “Extraordinary Give” Program!
On November 22, LCCF is sponsoring a one-day, online giving event in which MFE will be one of the recipients. On that day, be sure to visit Extragive.org, and choose MFE and donate. Every donation is eligible to win MFE extra prize money from a $250,000 pool that LCCF has committed to the event!! This means that your donation could very quickly go from $100 to $1100, with an extra $1000 coming from the prize pool!! So give early and give often, this event is not to be missed.
This year MFE will also be teaming up with several non-profits for a “giving” event at Tellus360.
This new arts and music space in the heart of Lancaster has been generous enough to host “The Great Giving Gig”. This event will certainly be the spot to be for the November 22 Extraordinary Give. There will be live music, refreshments, live art, stage performers, and an all out fun, “giving” atmosphere. The event will run from 8am until 12am, so be sure to join us to help make this year’s EXTRAORDINARY GIVE even bigger and better than last year’s!
MFE is also teaming up with
Benchmark Construction to promote giving on the 22 with a party at Benchmark headquarters (4121 Oregon Pike, Brownstown, PA 17508). This Extraordinary event will take place from 5-8pm. There will be food, beverages, AND a live performance of the MFE String Ensemble. This event is not to be missed! For any questions about the event, or to RSVP email MFE

MFE Participating in “Gifts That Give Hope” Fundraiser.
As the Holidays are fast approaching why not consider an alternative form of gift giving this year? MFE is participating in Gifts That Give Hope
which is an alternative gift fair occurring on
November 23. Purchasing Alternative gifts is an opportunity to give back and MAKE A DIFFERENCE to the larger community and honor your friends and loved ones at the same time. Instead of purchasing traditional gifts, participants purchase meaningful donations to local and global non-profits while improving the lives of others who are not on anyone’s gift list!! So join us on November 23 from 10am-4pm at the Farm and Home Center 1383 Arcadia Rd Lancaster PA 17601. This is a great chance for you to give a child the gift of music while knocking out your holiday shopping!
Festival of Voices Will Return for 2nd Annual Event!
After a very successful first year, the Festival of Voices, a one night choral festival featuring up to seven choral groups of all sizes and styles, will be returning to Lancaster. MFE is proud to announce that this year’s Festival of Voices will occur on March 28 at 6pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster (140 East Orange St.). More details about the event will be coming soon. So, mark your calendars now, this year will be even bigger and better than the last!!
MFE Receives Grant From PA Council on the Arts!
We are pleased to announce that MFE recently received a grant of $937 for our “MFE in the Schools” program. MFE in the Schools is designed to address the “mentoring/instructional gap” in our schools by underwriting professional musicians to work alongside teachers and directly with students, providing individual and group instruction to students. The receipt of this grant is significant in that it is another piece of evidence that MFE is making a difference in our community as the PA Council on the Arts vets potential grantees very thoroughly. We look forward to building on this budding relationship in the future.
Reminders: Join The Ukulele Uprising!!
Come join the MFE Ukulele Uprising on Tuesday evenings at 7:30 pm at the Susquehanna Association for the Blind building (244 N. Queen Street). All are welcome to these MFE community building initiatives.
