MFE and “The Extraordinary Give”

We would like to thank everyone who donated to MFE through the November 22 Extraordinary Give sponsored by the Lancaster County Community Fund. While the totals are not yet final, MFE was able to net over $10,000 as a result of your generosity. That translates into more grants to improve music programs in Lancaster County Schools and community arts organizations.

 

MFE Community Chorus Has Started a Crowdfunding Campaign for Festival of Voices!!

The MFE Community Chorus NEEDS YOU!! The group has started an Indiegogo campaign to help make this year’s Festival of Voices a success. Indiegogo is an online giving forum that helps raise money for causes and events, and gives an easy to use platform for doing so. The campaign’s goal is to raise the $4,000 to cover the costs of organizing and executing the widely popular choral festival. So at the very least check it out HERE, watch the video, and see what it is all about!!

 

MFE is Teaming up with Sparkbrass for a Pre-Holiday Benefit Concert!!

Join Music for Everyone, “MFE in the Schools” instructor Kate Umble, and her ensemble Sparkbrass for a music filled evening on December 22. This event will be hosted by the Community Mennonite Church (328 W. Orange st.) and will start at 7:30pm.In addition to a wonderful music filled evening there will also be a silent auction (great for last minute gift ideas!). So mark your calendars because December 22 with Sparkbrass is going to be a great time!

Harvey Owen Receives 2013 MFE Award

We are Proud to announce that MFE has presented its fourth annual “MFE Award” to Harvey Owen. The MFE Award honors individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary efforts to cultivate and celebrate the power of music in Lancaster County. Currently, Harvey serves through Millersville University as the director of the Ware Center at 42 N.  Prince St. He has worked hard to make the Ware center a success, as well as a sanctuary for music and the arts. Congratulations Harvey, and thank you for understanding the power of music as a community building tool!

 

MFE Community Chorus Holiday Sing-A-Long

On Friday December 20, at 7:00 PM, the MFE Community Chorus, accompanied by The Duke Street Brass, will perform their holiday sing-a-long concert at the Marriot Penn Square Lobby in downtown Lancaster. Reminders: MFE’s Ukulele Uprising

Join the MFE Ukulele Uprising on Tuesday evenings at 7:30pm at the Vision Corps building (244 N. Queen St.). All are welcomed to this community building initiative.

 

MFE CD Volume VII

Calling all Lancaster County musicians!! It’s time to round up your band members, sharpen your songwriting skills, and loosen up those vocal chords! Come Jan. 1 we will be accepting entries for our seventh annual MFE CD Sampler. If you would like more information, check out our website for more song submission details.

 

MFE Grants Are Available!!!

Need some money to enhance your school or community based music program? Starting this month, MFE will begin accepting applications for our 2013-2014 grant cycle. This year we hope to award $75,000 in grants. For more information and guidelines visit the Grants section of our website HERE.
