MFE Grants 2014 Deadline is Approaching!

Need some money to enhance your school or community based music program? This year we hope to award $75,000 in grants. Grant applications must be submitted by February 15th 2014 to be considered for an award. For more information and guidelines visit the Grants section of our website HERE.

MFE Scholars

We are pleased to announce Andrea Kurnat and Jordan Shopman as 2014 MFE Scholars! Both are Millersville University Music Education majors, who aspire to become music teachers. In exchange for their $2000 scholarships, they will work in a SDOL school at the direction of a music teacher. Two additional MFE Scholars will be chosen this spring to work in a school during the fall of 2014.

MFE CD Volume VII

Calling all Lancaster County Musicians! It’s time to round up your band members, sharpen your songwriting skills, and loosen up those vocal chords. We are now accepting entries for our seventh annual MFE CD. The submission deadline is March 1st. you can visit the submission site here.

MFE Announces the Second Annual “Lancaster Festival of Voices”

On Friday March 28th, MFE will welcome back the second annual “Lancaster Festival of Voices”. This year’s Choral festival will feature a wide variety of choral groups, and is certainly not to be missed! The Festival will be held at The First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster (140 East Orange St.). The lineup for this year includes: The Sheaffer Elementary Chorus, Wheatland Middle School Chorus, The Sentimentals, Broad Street Line A Cappella, Bright Side Baptist Gospel Choir, Essence of Joy Singers, And THE MFE COMMUNITY CHORUS! This year’s festival starts at 6:00pm and admission is free, although donations will be gladly accepted.

 

Keys for the City 2014 Piano Sponsorship Opportunity

Come join the MFE Ukulele Uprising on Tuesday evenings at 7:30 pm at the Vision Corps building at 244 N. Queen St. All are welcome to this community building initiative.

MFE Monthly Music Download

February’s Monthly Music download features one of Lancaster’s hottest music acts right now, The Pig Merchants. The Pig Merchants have been going strong and taking the area by storm. “Tondo” is the name of the tune, which was featured on MFE Vol. 6. Be sure to check them out.
