MFE Announces Inaugural “Keys Street Scenes Art Series”
Want to have your very own piece of MFE’s Keys for the City and help raise money for MFE at the same time? Thanks to the generous support of several Lancaster artists and galleries, now you can.
We asked several artists to paint a Keys for the City “street scene”. Any scene that they could imagine occurring around one of the street pianos. These paintings will be hung at various art galleries and available for purchase through a silent auction process from Friday October 3rd through October 31st.
Artists participating are: Fred Roger, Loryn Spangler-Jones, Kenny Reisig, Steven Gambone, Annie Kerekgtarto, and Melissa Carrol.
Paintings will be available for bid at the following galleries: Red Raven (Rodger), Annex 24 (Spangler-Jones, Reisig and Gambone), and Sunshine Studios (Kerekgtarto and Carroll).
So go out and celebrate Lancaster being an arts destination and the “Street Piano Capital of the World” by bidding on a one of a kind Lancaster artistic treasure. And at the same time, you will be helping MFE to continue to cultivate the power of music as an educational and community building tool in Lancaster County.

MFE in the Schools Returns and Expands, Bigger Than Ever!!
As the school year shifts into full gear, “MFE in the Schools” begins its third year as a successful community based program. This program is designed to address the “mentoring/instructional gap” in school music programs by placing seasoned, professional musicians in the schools to work alongside teachers and directly with students to provide lessons as well as small and large group ensemble mentorship. Michael Jamanis Jr. (strings), Ryan Kauffman (woodwinds), Kate Umble (brass), and their team of volunteers will work directly with more than 300 students per week!
2014 Music Fridays a Success!
Music Fridays in Lancaster continues to grow! We had more street spots, more events, and more participation than ever! This Summer more music poured from our streets and street corners. As Music Friday continues to grow, it begs the question, “What’s in store for next year…”
MFE to Participate in Lancaster County Community Foundation’s Third Annual “Extraordinary Give”
The first year for the ExtraGive was big. The second year was even bigger. This year on November 21st…. The Extra Ordinary Give is going to be HUGE! Be sure to mark your calendars for this one day online giving event. On November 21st, be sure to visit the ExtraGive Website, choose MFE and donate. There will be blocks of time throughout the day that each organization can earn an extra $1,000 when people like you making a donation! Meaning your donation, whatever amount it may be, could be increased by $1,000 through the LCCF! All you have to do is donate!
MFE will also be teaming up with several other non-profits in Lancaster county, for the second year, to throw a rockin’ party to celebrate the ExtraGive! Join us for a fonky good time at Tellus360, one of the coolest spots in town, for music, art, and a day that celebrates giving! We will see you on November 21st!
Keys for the City 2014 Ends its Highly Successful Run.
As cold weather approaches and the pianos have left the city, it is much quieter in Lancaster. This year’s Keys for the City program was a huge success creating lasting memories and generating a buzz throughout the city. Lancaster also solidified another year of being the “Street Piano Capitol of the World”! Missing the Keys? Be sure to visit our Facebook page and the Keys Website to recap this year’s community exhibit. Fear not! Depending on our ability to secure the necessary sponsorship support, we hope to bring Keys for the City back in 2015.
