The Steve Killough Memorial Well-Being Grant Program

Music For Everyone is proud to announce a new grant track in memorial of Dr. Steven Killough, who died unexpectedly in 2021. The “Dr. Steven Killough Grant to Promote Youth Well-Being though the Power of Music” is made possible through a generous donation from Lancaster Pediatrics. These grants will aim to support programs throughout Lancaster County that are using music as a well-being tool for kids birth-21 years of age.

The program will accept requests centered on programs that aim to use music as a healing or well-being tool in any capacity. In order to be considered, the organization must be a registered public school or 501(c) non-profit organization.

This application is specifically to request funding from the Music For Everyone’s Well-Being Program for programs that support Lancaster County Youth. This application differs from those for MFE’s Annual Instrument Grant Program. To apply, please see below. (Applications are due September 29,2024 by 5:00PM)

Remembering Steve Killough

“Whether he was strumming a ukulele or composing a funny song for his staff, caring for the homeless or the thousands of children and their families at Lancaster Pediatrics and Lancaster Cleft Palate Clinic, Dr. Steve Killough fully embraced a life of humility, gentleness and kindness, all in beautiful harmony.”

Mary DePoe, CRNP at Lancaster Pediatrics

My family and I are honored that Steve is being remembered with the youth well-being program that will be run by Music for Everyone. Music touched every part of his life! As a teenager he bought his first guitar; as a medical student he studied while listening to classical music; he played in a band, attended countless live performances and as an adult he joined Ukulele Uprising. His love of music shaped the kind of doctor that he became. When he contemplated retirement, he dreamed about joining a rock ‘n roll band. We are grateful and so appreciate Lancaster Pediatrics’ generous donation that honors Steve in such an appropriate way.

Nan Killough

“It was important to Lancaster Pediatrics that we remember and honor Dr Killough with something that fosters resilience, connection and optimism, since that is what Steve gave to all of us and to his community. The mission of Music for Everyone aligns perfectly with the way Steve led his life. We are grateful that Music for Everyone has agreed to be the steward for a grant that we know will have impact while continuing to support the legacy of our friend Steve Killough.”

“Dr Killough and his love of his patients, his music, and all things problem-solving will forever be in our hearts.”

Jill High, MD, partner, Lancaster Pediatrics
